Monday Mischief #24 - Right This Minute

Onyxx was really naughty during his last training class. He kept barking and breaking his stay. As the instructor diplomatically put it, "I saw him making a few mistakes today." Thankfully, during the group exercises, he held it together and his "come" was impeccable. He ran to me as fast as his little legs could carry him. And he held his stay at the end when I went up to receive his graduation certificate.

He's an obedience school graduate! And as I told him, he may never have to learn another new thing again. He knows the basic commands and some fun tricks (more tricks than any Chihuahua I've ever met!) and he's pretty content that way. Unlike Mr. N and his busy little brain.

The dogs love to wrestle by me and on me which doesn't really bother me unless they're doing something like wrestling on the laptop. The boyfriend on the other hand is not fond of said activity on him. They'll stop if I tell them to but for the most part, I just let them be. I think Mr. N likes using me as a fort.

Mr. N would happily play like this all day (except for sleeping, eating and walking). Onyxx gets tired much faster and likes to play like this maybe once or twice a day. Mr. N can be bossy (anyone surprised?) and will insist that they must play together right this minute. He normally bats at Onyxx's face to get him to play. But yesterday, he decided his argument might be more persuasive if he was on top of Onyxx.

Are your dogs matched in energy level?
Taken by the boyfriend. He was shocked that I don't attribute his photos to him lol!

  1. Luckily, they are very matched. You get that with seniors - mostly napping if they aren't out for their run/walk.

  2. He pinned him. LOL Torrey is much younger and would play with Roxy a lot if she could. Roxy always has to initiate play, and it's not very often anymore.

  3. Haha - You guys are so sweet playing together! I wish I had someone to rough and tumble with too! Cosmo (from next door) never wants to do it, though I try really hard to get him to, maybe I'll come over and play with you guys, though I'm quite a bit bigger, I can be gentle to you little ones though! :)

    I hope you're having a fun day,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

    1. Mr. N would love to play. His favorite wrestle partner is 70-something pounds.

  4. I thought I was the only crazy person who didn't mind their dogs wrestling on top of them! Many a time I have fallen asleep with a full on wrestlemania match going on on top of me lol. Our dogs are all quite evenly matched... they play with each other a lot. Snoopy is getting older and tends to sleep more often but he still plays once in a while. Bauer is the most energetic so we like to get younger foster dogs that match his energy level so he can have someone to play with all the time if Snoopy is annoyed with him. Our two fosters and Bauer are all exactly the same and are going at it constantly these days!

    1. Haha. I don't know if I would fall asleep with them doing that but for most other things, I don't mind! And Mr. N has excellent bite inhibition and Onyxx's is decent so I'm not too worried.

  5. I think now is when he should bark "Uncle" so he can get up! My Basset and granddog Westie evenly matched in energy? Not even close but they do play hard!

  6. That last is a great shot! My 12 year old Aussies are litter mates and basically have the same energy levels. They play well with each other. Then, this weekend, I brought a puppy home. A much smaller dog. We'll see ...

  9. With three dogs, you'd think someone was a match for someone else, but it doesn't work that way. Tucker wants to play all the time, Jasper would rather be a couch potato. Lilah plays strategically--only when it suits her. Great picture at the end there; when in doubt, sit on your potential playmate. BOL!

  10. Congrats Onyx! We've got 2 westies in the house - one 11 and one 7, so they're matched pretty well.

  11. That last shot is hilarious....thats often how Scooter will end up - either lying on top OR happily lying underneath (just to be as close as possible i think)

  12. Congrats on graduating, Onyxx! Rita doesn't have a live-in buddy to play with, but we do play dates with her cousin and with her bff. They are both crazier and go-go-go-ier than her, but they have a great time when they are together.

  13. yay graduation! And I love that picture of Mr N staring at the camera. Donna is supposed to be the always want to play type of dog I think, but too bad for her, there's no dog for her to play with in the flat!...
