Monday Mischief #26 - Embarrassment Squared

Onyxx was supremely bad when I took the dogs for a visit to Mr. N's former foster. She had invited over a neighbor who she had tried to interest in Onyxx. The neighbor ended up adopting another dog, a sweet Border Terrier mix.

First, Onyxx pooped in the middle of her living room and then he marked the couch on the way to the yard. Once outside, he tried to hump the neighbor's dog. He jumped onto a side table nearly knocking off the glass art on top. We heard a thump coming from the bathroom and I went to investigate. Onyxx had knocked over the trash can. Probably scavenging for food.

I think the neighbor was very happy with her new dog after seeing Onyxx and his antics. I was so embarrassed and I think Mr. N's foster was too. I don't know what was up with Onyxx. He's never been that bad before.

How have your dogs embarrassed you?

  1. Hah!

I'd say Onyxx had some pre-conceived notions of his own that that just wasn't going to be his fur-ever home!

Bear embarrasses me quite often if it makes you feel any better ;)

    1. She already adopted another dog though! Mr. N's foster invited her over to meet Onyxx so she could spread the word about him. Not sure if she would! Onyxx misbehaves sometimes but it's almost always centered around food.

  2. Onyxx looks so angelic on that chair though!! :)

Maybe he needs more opportunities to go to new places so he that he cab learn what is or is not acceptable behaviour in these places? I don't know, but good luck for the next time!

    1. Maybe. He hasn't visited other homes very often but he's gone into a lot of stores.

  3. Onyxx looks like an angel. My dogs do embarrass me at times. When walked together they can be barky which is embarrassing

  4. I think Onyxx feels he has clearly found his forever home and will sabotage efforts to find a different one for him.

    1. That's the boyfriend's theory. I don't think we're cut out to be a two dog household though. Mr. N's exercise and training is suffering a little as a result.

  5. I have to agree, he didn't want to stay there. Sometime Torrey gets a bug up her butt and misbehaves.

    1. He's been there before. I think he may have been upset about being crated when Mr. N was not. I caught Onyxx trying to eat fruit seeds he found somewhere.

  6. We all have our moments. Most recently, Leo peed on the leg of the exam table at the vet. I think SlimDoggy is onto something. Onyxx is a keeper!

  7. Oh dear Onyxx. Mind you, I can't talk. I pee'd on my Nans bed this morning... and pee'd on a little boys ball at the beach yesterday... Oops. I'm in the dog house.

  8. Maybe someone else had peed on the couch before and Onyxx just wanted to stake his claim.

    1. It's possible but he's been there before fairly recently and neither of her two dogs are markers.

  9. Look how precious he is! No way was he a bad dog! I took our new puppy to my mom's today, visiting her little Shih Tzu, and he surprised me by being very good. Weird.

    1. He looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. The reality? Not so much.

  10. Hmmm, methinks Onyx didn't think that was the right forever home/person! Yikes.

  11. I think Onyx was just expressing his opinion. And have my dogs embarrassed me? You bet! Usually it's when Jasper, the 70-pound lab mix sticks his nose in the nether regions of our guests. Embarrassing? Yes!

    1. I've had dogs almost lift up my skirt before because they were sniffing lol.

  12. Aww poor Onyxx! Don't worry, when the right adopter comes along they'll love him anyway :) And yes, my dogs have definitely embarrassed me. Many, many times lol. Pooping, peeing, barking, puking, running off, snarking at other dogs, humping... I wouldn't know where to start.

    1. I hope so! The boyfriend keeps bringing up the news article that says that dogs don't feel shame. Which is definitely true in Onyxx's case.

  13. Onyx was undoubtedly making a statement! And, yes, Sage certainly is the queen of embarrassing moves. Not just the two times we've met up with you and she rolled in the most disgusting skat, but she also peed twice in the agility ring last week--a definite no-no. It was clearly marking and something she has only done once before and that was over 3 years ago!

  14. OMD, I guess he didn't want to go home with her! Rita embarrasses me often on walks - barking at folks in their own yards (if they move toward us, she thinks they are coming for us!) and barking at sweet dogs who are just cruising by. I don't mind if she barks when they bark too, but if it's just a sweet old dog out for a stroll, it's really embarrassing to have her go all Cujo.

  15. Maybe Onyxx is trying to tell you that he just wants to stay with you and Mr. N. forever, that he doesn't want to be anyone else's dog.
