FitDog Friday #29 - Lacamas Lake Park (In Search of Lilies)

It's the peak season for certain wildflowers so we set forth to catch a glimpse before they faded. After discussing several different possibilities, we decided on Lacamas Lake Park which is noted for Camas Lilies.

 We walked across the dam.

And the dogs posed for numerous photos. Mr. N and Sage both held their stay despite a strange dog passing by on the trail. I was impressed and a little surprised (Mr. N is leash reactive to dogs). I think Mr. N thinks that posing for photos is his "job." He takes his duties very seriously.

We passed by a group of women hiking and Mr. N insisted on saying hello to everyone. He actually jumped up onto that rock in order to get more attention.

Mr. N loves peering down at water so this hike was perfect for him.

After much wandering and getting lost (the trails weren't very well marked), we stumbled across the Camas Lilies!

Mr. N thinks that humans who have no sense of direction are silly.

The lilies! I was expecting something bigger but they were pretty to look at scattered across the field.

Sage wanted to jump into every stream and river and lake we came across. Having black fur in the heat is no fun. She did get a few quick splashes in and Mr. N even joined her towards the end.

We also managed to find the two waterfalls towards the end of our hike.

Next week, we're headed to the coast if the weather cooperates.

  1. Hi Y'all!

The weather in the southeast is supposed to be nice this coming week. Mr. N, let me tell you, my Human Mama has no sense of direction. My Human Papa made sure she has a phone with Google maps and a car equipped with navigation.

    Y'all come by now,

    1. There's a great trail here with a dozen waterfalls but dogs aren't allowed unfortunately so we've never been.

  8. So impressed that the sit/stay held when another dog walked by. Not sure my pups could do that. Love that Mr N makes friends wherever he goes. And my Lilah can identify with Sage; she's all black and gets very hot in the sun--which is why we usually have a kiddie/doggy pool available for her on warm days.

    1. Mr. N is convinced that everyone wants to pet him and tell him how adorable he is. We brought cooling vests for both dogs. Mr. N didn't need his and Sage's human left the vest in the car because she initially thought Sage wouldn't need it.
