There have been some totally off-the-wall guesses though. I think my favorite is the guy who asked if Mr. N is a Corgi.
This is a Corgi:

This is a purebred(?) Yorkie in a puppy cut:

And this is Mr. N:
Mr. N looks nothing like a Corgi. Practically everything looks different! Different ears, tails, fur length, coloring, leg length, size, fur texture, body length, body structure etc. I am also severely doubtful about any herding instinct he may harbor.
What's the weirdest breed guess that you've gotten for your dog(s)?
The worst one was when I was playing chuck it with my dogs in an old soccer field.. Some guy started screaming at me to get my "pit bulls" away from his kids.. They were not anywhere near his kids (were completely under control, Zoe was in a down stay and Phoenix was getting the ball and coming right back to me) and don't look anything like a bully dog so it was very confusing.. His wife laughed at him and said, "I don't think those are pit bulls". Mostly I get asked if they are whippet mixes. Which is what I generally go for.
ReplyDeleteYou have some skinny pitbulls lol! I think they have the sighthound build.
DeleteEveryone thinks I'm a bassett hound mix or a doodle of some weird kind. I have to agree, you are definitely NOT a corgi, German Shepherd maybe, but Corgi, NO! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think he would be a pretty funny looking German Shepherd.
DeleteEveryone thinks Roxy is a Schipperke. Wrong size, wrong color.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that that many people know what a Schipperke is!
DeleteYeah, there's definitely no resemblance there! People guess that the fluffies are "white Newfoundlands" a lot. I also had someone ask me if Mauja was a poodle. Really? Come on...
ReplyDeletePoodle haircuts come in many forms... but still nothing like Mauja!
DeleteCan't believe you have corgi in you. Kilo also gets funny guesses alot too. Some people don't even think he's a pug...
ReplyDelete.... what do they think Kilo is?
DeleteOurs are pretty much too easy...golden, beagle, and Lab mix. My friend has a silky terrier/dachshund mix (seen on my blog yesterday) and I always think he's a Yorkie mix ( I think it's finally drilled into me now that he's a silky mix). I've made some guesses on other people's dogs that were way off, but even I could tell the difference between a terrier and a Corgi! :)

That kind of makes sense though. I think Yorkies were used in the development of Silkies.
DeleteBarley is such a weird dog that I can't blame people for making weird guesses, but once time someone said that she looked a lot like his dog and when I asked what kind of dog he had, he said a yorkie! I can't really see that one!
ReplyDeleteI can't see that either!
DeleteThat's so funny. Corgi?! We mostly get shepherd, which is pretty obvious with Rita. The weirdest breeds mentioned were on her actual DNA test! (Possible Wolfhound? Really??)
ReplyDeleteThe DNA tests always seem to have at least one really weird breed on them.
DeleteBOL! We get the "white Scottie" a lot, but we's also gotten maltese and bichon quite a bit. Except for being small and white, those are really off.
ReplyDeleteGirl, I can make you laugh. Today I posted on Harley's FB page that someone saw his picture on twitter and thought he looked like a seal. I'm not kidding, I had to laugh because from him position - he actually did!
ReplyDeleteSage got everything from German Shepherd to Huskie when younger. I've even heard someone think she looked like a fox!
ReplyDeleteHaha Mr N,
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of you as a Corgi, but I have to confess sometimes I've got you mixed up with Oz!
I hope you're having a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy :)
I think some people are just taking wild guesses. My dogs are so obviously mixed breeds that it's amusing to let folks just keep guessing. In the end, there is no write answer. When someone asks me, "What breed is your dog?" I usually respond, "Yes." As in, yes, that's the question. ;-)
