Wordless Wednesday #21 - New Loot

Mr. N's Nylon collar was getting dingy so when we were at the Rose City Classic with She Speaks Bark, I splurged on a leather Paco collar. We did get a discount as a "show special." They are expensive but hand-made in the USA with a lifetime guarantee. And free repairs I believe.

I did debate whether or not a long-haired dog needs a nice collar because it's difficult to see on him but I decided that I'd rather get him a nice collar than have to buy him new Nylon collars every year or so. He wears the same collar the majority of the time.

I liked the flashier collars (with rhinestones!) but you can't really see them through his hair and everyone always thinks Mr. N is a girl as it is. So we got the collar with the little pyramids. Embellished but not showy and you can see bits and pieces through his hair.

The boyfriend is not a fan. He thinks it looks like a necklace.

What it looks like through his hair
The giveaway from DOOG (and hosted by Paws and Pedals) arrived earlier this month from Australia. So I made Mr. N sit in the box and pose for a photo. I've been keeping the water bottle in the car so we have water on hand for post-adventures and the "Uncle Chuck" stick is going to go to Mr. N's best friend (a Giant Schnauzer).
We won the DOOG giveaway from Paws and Pedals

  2. Don't you just love your Paco Collar? I love them and they even made a custom one for one of the bigger dogs. They are so beautiful and I love how they soften so quickly!! Good choice of a collar :)

  6. Lookin' good, Mr. N! Love the new collar! I knew a lady with a Golden that had Paco collar years ago and always wanted one. I've held back because, like you, I didn't see the point in buying a blinged out collar for such a fluffy dog. You'd never be able to see it! I still go on line to look at them from time to time but always reign myself in.

    1. Thanks! That's his collar for the next +5 years so I thought he should get something that lasts. I don't really like switching collars around a lot. It's hard to see on him plus between his coats, shirts, and sweaters, I spend enough time dressing him as it is!
I'm probably never going to buy/need a blingy collar because I love long-haired dogs. Oh well. I enjoy the fluffiness.

  7. I love Paco collars but have the same trouble with my thick-coated corgis. I am not sure the beauty of the collars will show through enough to warrant the price.

    1. I figured if Mr. N wears that collar for the next couple of years, it would be less than having to buy him a Nylon collar every year or so. Although like I said, we did get a discount and small dog collars cost less so YMMV.

  11. lol! So cute sitting in the box! I like the new collar - doesn't look like a necklace at all! (I could see the argument for belt, but that applies to almost anything leather, no?) Moses' regular collar is purple and he has no concerns about his masculinity (the matter of missing testicles may be his primary concern in that area, however...).

    1. Haha. I could dress Mr. N in camo and skulls and people would still be like, "What a pretty girl!" One woman told me he was too pretty to be a boy. No wonder he has issues. I think the BF would prefer something plain.

  13. We love his new collar. Since those are gold studs, you should remind boyfriend that this collar clearly makes Mr. N STUDLY!! :D

  15. That collar looks great on him! We ADORE Paco Collars here. Nola has two collars (Unicorn and Swirl. Purple stones for the Unicorn, aqua for the swirl. Both black leather and silver hardware) and a leash from them, and I freaking love them. She mostly wears her Pacos now, and that's saying a lot when you have as many collars as she does! I need to save up for another one. I'm thinking an XDog Mini. One of my favorite things about Nola's coat is pretty collars show through.

    1. Thanks. I really like the Unicorn and the XDog Mini but I think they're too feminine for him plus you can't see it through his coat. I love fluffy dogs though so pretty collars may be out of my grasp forever.
