Monday Mischief #68 - Supervising Dance Class

Mr. N has been accompanying me to dance class of late. It's hard work for him because he doesn't understand why people would be doing other things rather than petting him.

He especially finds stretches irresistible and will nudge people to pet him mid-stretch. One time, no one else showed up to class so the instructor and I were busy with some choreography issues and "ignoring him" and desperate for attention, he practically launched himself at the next class members who were filing in.

It's a really tiny class and everyone likes dogs thankfully (plus I have permission from the studio director). My biggest worry is that he's a tripping hazard as he likes to follow us around as we practice moves around the studio. I've brought a mat for him but he finds settling boring and will get up again.

Last class though, I think we may have found a solution. I plopped him down on the sole chair in the corner and he was content to sit and watch us for half the class. I'm sure he thinks he's supervising. He better watch out though, there's talk of putting him in a tutu.

  1. That chair does look like the perfect spot for him! He must keep everyone entertained in class.

  2. Well that looks like a good spot. What sort of dance (I produced dance shows before dog shows). Maybe he could join in occasionally - Kilo loves to dance with me (for treats of course), but lacks technique. We have seen some amazing dancing dogs and humans on Talent Hounds X Susie and Kilo

  3. Not the tutu - don't do it Mr. N. On another note - how pawsome for you both that he is allowed to accompany you to dance class. Great outlet and he's right there with you!

Oh, Mr. N! A tutu? Not you! That's girlie stuff! Stay on that chair and don't let 'em near you!

  5. Aw, Mr. N is so well behaved! Haley would be jumping around and trying to dance with everyone. Even when I get on the floor to do some stretching, she's there with a toy ready to participate somehow, lol!

    1. He's a good boy. He still has trouble understanding why people don't want to pet him though!

  6. I've been in the tutu often, Mr. N. It's not so bad... But then again, I'm a girl...

  7. Haha! It's a good spot! Mort loves getting onto a chair when we're at busy events, I think it makes him feel more confident (and less flighty etc) being higher up.

  9. I'm surprised Mr. N didn't just get out there and start dancing with everyone! We know how multi-talented he is! :)

  10. What fun to get to bring him along! And how funny that he thinks it should be all about him. Maybe he'd enjoy donning a tutu and getting in on the action??? :) I know I'd enjoy seeing that on video!

  11. If a tutu enters the mix, I want photos! So cool that he is able to come!

  12. I love that you get to bring him along! Barley is the reason I rarely do yoga at home anymore. She waits until I'm precariously balanced and then comes up and does her best cat impression rubbing against me. Hope Mr. N is better at avoiding being stepped on than Bar is!
